AgriDynamic-Poultry Training Center in Cameroon

Gaston Ngochembo started the AgriDynamic Foundation in 28. This foundation aims to stimulate sustainable agriculture in developing countries and to support farm families to realise their ambitions in food production.
Gaston: "I want to set up a practical poultry training centre where local chicken farmers can receive proper and free training on how to improve chicken production, consumption, and organic farming. The poultry training centre's main goal is to provide practical skills to the local farmers. I see the training approach as the best way to assist local farmers to improve on their poultry production method."
Since the Cameroon Government has banned the import of frozen chicken, there is shortage of chicken meat for local use. The training will result in local farmers being able to produce and meet current market demand, to raise living standards, and send their children to school. The poultry farm, which is part of the training centre, also produces broilers, which will be sold on the local market, thus generating income to sustain the training activities. The goal is to have the centre sustain itself within 4 years from now.
Motivatie
"Because I was born and raised in Cameroon and through my background in veterinary sciences I realize that local farmers do not have proper knowledge and skills needed to improve on their traditional, backyard and small scales production of chicken.
Almost every family in Cameroon keeps chicken. These chicken provide an important source of income and direct cash. Outbreaks of diseases can kill up to 7% of the chicken population, having a huge impact on the local economy and threatening human health as well.
For me, practical training is the effective way to assist these people to step out of poverty and to maximise their present market opportunities. I know that with such training and the motivation local people have -as I saw during our first pilot training- local production will start to improve."
